Black Vinyl Friday

It's time for BLACK VINYL FRIDAY! Nov. 27, 9am till 8pm

What better way to spend the day after Thanksgiving than buying records. That’s right! Flat, black vinyl records! We are offering up some special releases as well as a special collection: records once owned by the illustrious front man for the Asylum Street Spankers, DJ du jour at Austin’s legendary Cannibal Club from 1985 to 1990, poet, songster and all-round crazyman -- our good friend WAMMO! As a matter of fact, Wammo will be on hand Friday to perform and tell you about his records like Nirvana’s “Bleach,” The Replacements’ “Tim,” and Vic Chestnut’s first album.

We’ll open our doors at 9am, serving coffee from our favorite coffee roaster, FUEGO Coffee.
Our friends at WAYO 104.3FM radio will be here all day, talking about the station and their vision of radio of the future. At 1pm, the WAYO All-Stars will play a set of cool music.

Wammo will perform a short set of tunes with a band TBA and will also be the resident DJ for the day, probably spinning some of his own records and asking trivia questions.

At 4, it’s the return of The Beaumonts -- think old Chicago meets Bob Marley -- with their new release, “Letting Go of the Dial.”

Pittsburgh’s NOX BOYS play at 5:30pm. I think they are one of the best garage/punk/rock ’n’ roll bands I’ve heard since the ’80s. Nox Boys are a GET HIP recording artist.

Brewery Ommegang beer will be here in the afternoon for a tasting from about 2 to 4pm
GET HIP Recordings will be here, too, with a special selection of their LPs on sale.

Take it easy on Thanksgiving and save some energy for Bop Shop Records on Friday. We look forward to seeing you.
