Wammo has played in bands since Wammo was 15. Some of the original bands Wammo has played in are: Oboyo, Rint Zykle and the Speed Queens, Minus Grace, Poi Dog Pondering, Clang, Clown Clone and W.O.R.M. Wammo won Best Club DJ in the Austin Chronicle Music Poll for the years ‘88-90. Wammo hosted a local and an alternative radio show on KNNC in the early 90s.

Wammo formed The Asylum Street Spankers with long time friend, Guy Forsyth, in late March or early April of 1994.

That same year, Wammo traveled with the MTV Spoken Word Tour and Lollapalooza as a poet. Wammo first competed in the National Poetry Slam in 1995, where Wammo came in second in the nation. Soon after, Wammo was signed to Mouth Almighty/Mercury Records to record a poetry album, Fat Headed Stranger.

He’s been producing, playing and performing all around this big planet for over three decades, almost half of that time with the Spankers. Wammo taught himself to sing play washboard, percussion, drums, harmonica, guitar, nose flute, theremin and Wammophone.
