Phillip Marshall is a Rochester guitarist and songwriter who has played in local bands including the Colorblind James Experience, Lalaland, Annie Wells, Margaret Explosion, and The Fox Sisters. Since 2001 he has worked as a hospice music therapist providing support to the terminally ill and their families. Over the years he and Kinloch Nelson have crossed paths and occasionally performed together in a trio with local WRUR/WXXI luminary Scott Regan called Guitarred and Feathered. Through their mutual friendship with local guitar legend Steve Greene the two began getting together more regularly to explore what they could create as a duo.
Kinloch Nelson, over a decades-long guitar performance career has played folk, classical, ragtime, American primitive, Celtic, new-age, R & B, surf, rock, pop, country, jazz music and an extensive catalogue of original compositions in bands, ensembles and as a solo performer. Nelson taught guitar for 25 years at Hochstein Music School and Music As A creative Language for four years at Maryland Summer Center For The Arts. He has been reviewed in Fretboard Journal, Rolling Stone and Mojo, and Just Jazz Guitar Magazines, and has contributed transcriptions and instruction videos to Acoustic Guitar Magazine, performed for NPR radio and TV, and released CDs/&vinyl on Tompkins Square, Heartland, BKNjr, and Sampler Records.
