For the past year and a half, Jon Tucker, Matt McNulty, Dave Maccarone, and I have been working together to create our own unique approach to improvised music. We have been using pared down frameworks and rhythmic structures as a jumping off points for further development as a group. I liken these structures to games because there are basic rules that may, or may not be followed as the event continues. The music is also fun and makes you think!! In our public performances we have used more well known forms and tunes as a bridge for our audience to help our audience acclimate themselves to our work and our focus. This has proven to be a fun way to draw people into the unexpected and novel musical experiences that we have developed. On February 2 at 8:00 - 9:00 pm we will be presenting a live performance / recording session of some of our original music at Bop Shop Records at 1460 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY 14618. The show is going to be recorded for release in EP and video form later this spring. We will be presenting original music by Jon Tucker, David Dewitt and me at this show.

Stereo Field Recordings was founded in 2024 by audio and video engineer Dan Gross to consolidate his recording business. The mission of SFR is to offer capture services at affordable rates, made through community connections. At SFR's home base at Bop Shop Records and in the field, SFR looks to produce, capture, and release unique music recordings: from EPKs, to field recordings, to concert videos, to live EPs and albums, to semi-studio projects.

Doors open at 7pm, and recording will begin at 8pm.

In this concert/open recording session, jazz lovers have a chance to hear the local combo GNQ stretch out, playing original tunes with their signature flair.
