While growing up in Rochester, drummer David Clapp was able to experience the music of many jazz greats at the Rochester International Jazz Festival and at frequent shows at Bop Shop Records.

In high school, David spent time studying with Eastman School of Music faculty and local jazz legend Mike Melito. He currently is completing his senior year at Purchase College, State University of New York, where he studies with Kenny Washington and spends time with other notable musicians, including Gary Smulyan, Eric Alexander and Ugonna Okegwo.

David is looking forward to presenting his group, which includes recent Purchase alumni and other talented local musicians at Bop Shop Records, where they’ll perform a variety of styles that highlight David’s love of the jazz tradition.
