On Friday July 14th, we are showing "Cover Story" our first film of the weekend at Bop Shop Records hosted by my good friend Peter Albin of Big Brother and the Holding Company.
Movie starts at 7:30pm and is FREE. Peter is good friends with the Documentary film maker Eric Christensen and sat in on the panel discussion along with Norman Greenbaum, Jerry Harrison, Bob Seidermann and George Hunter.
"The Cover Story - Album Art" chronicles the stories behind some of the iconic album covers of the 12 inch LP era. The story behind the controversial Blind Faith album cover featuring a topless eleven year old girl, who for the first time (some 45 years later) discusses how she feels about the historic cover. The Nirvana baby, Yoko Ono, Storm Thorgerson, Roger Dean, Stanley Mouse, Victor Moscoso, Jim Marshall, and Henry Diltz (among others) discuss their contributions to this all but gone art form. Are we losing artifact in the age of digital downloads is also discussed.
