Buffalo native Joe Goehle comes to music with an eclectic mindset. His love of improvised sounds and firm roots in the classical tradition blends together to form a unique voice as a composer. His compositions feature a mix of free and traditional improvisations that appeal to multiple musical sensibilities. The bassist brings a strong and complex tone to all of his compositions, allowing new interpretations to breathe life into each performance.
Currently residing in New York City, Joe leads a quintet that continues to refine its sound through frequent performances in clubs throughout New York. The band’s debut album, Cerebral People, features collaborative compositions that explore free improvisation within the context of a large ensemble.
